Aquarius Full Moon, 2025
Hi friends,
In the early hours of Saturday August 9th, at 12:56AM Pacific time, we will have this year’s Aquarius Full Moon.
For the full day following, it will likely feel hard to focus. After it becomes full, the moon will no longer directly aspect any other planet until almost midnight, so she won’t connect us to any other planetary energies. This is called Void-of-Course (like it lacks a course rather than “of course!”) and it will last until 11:50PM Saturday night when she crosses the boundary into Pisces. Nearly 23 hours of a Void-of-Course Moon.
This is similar to another full moon we had recently, and so my advice is the same; make your wish shortly before the exact moment of the full moon, but not after. Try not to make many important plans for that day, and try not to start anything new that you hope will thrive.
So—make wishes on Friday night, chill on Saturday.
This full moon comes right after Mars moves into the sign of Libra. Mars does not love being in Libra. Their vibes and values are just very off from each other.
Libra concerns itself with fairness/justice (the scales!).
Mars’ idea of justice: everyone gets an equal number of daggers thrown at them. Friends? Yup, 10 daggers. Enemies? Yup also 10 daggers. Strangers and acquaintances? YES also 10 daggers. For Mars, that’s justice!
This Mars ingress into Libra also brings him face-to-face with Saturn, directly across the zodiacal table in Aries. This is an interesting, if not troubling, moment. Mars rules Aries, and Saturn is exalted in Libra. So these two are in a kind of mutual reception, but not in a good way. Both are struggling where they are and look towards each other for support. Neither is equipped with the tools they would typically reach for. Saturn in Aries struggles with authorities, Mars in Libra struggles to make decisions, but that’s literally each of their specialties! You can see how this offers us a difficult month ahead.
Alice Sparkly Kat (author of Postcolonial Astrology), in her horoscope for August, talked about Mars in Libra as betrayal. That “when you compare sorrows, you betray everyone.”
Let’s not forget what else this Saturn in Aries is caught up in, which Mars will now be caught up in as well! Remember the basket? Mars now activates the outer planets into this kite formation;
Mars creating the “kite” aspect with the outer planets
Like the new moon offered us a moment to plant a seed with these outer planets for next year, this Mars transit asks—what the hell are we doing right now? This moment could be a spark! I think I would be more concerned if Mars was in a fire sign, or even more so in one of his own signs, but as it is I still don’t love looking at this. Kites are generally supportive aspect patterns, but we want to look at the “top” of the kite to see which is the focal point. In this case we find that it’s Saturn and Neptune.
What do we think Saturn and Neptune together are trying to enact into the world? This formation will help them bring it here. Saturn represents all things slow, and old, and cold. All things foundational. Hard lessons. Knowledge from the past. Neptune makes everything incomprehensible. It casts a mist and lets us run confused through it. When we combine these two planets, we are left with lessons we don’t understand. For the past three years of them in Pisces, we have been left frozen in the fog. But in Aries? There’s nothing frozen. But there is blind action. There is struggle against authority. There is cataclysm. Fun stuff! I guess we will all find out together.
In other news, we are almost done with the Mercury retrograde; as this full moon perfects, he is stands still, readying himself to move forward again. Did anyone get any exes in their inbox? Experience a technological snafu? Have travel plans go awry? Tell me about it :)
Venus and Jupiter are approaching a conjunction, meaning they will be in the same place in the sky here in just a few days. This is a lovely moment, especially since Jupiter is so well resourced in Cancer. I hope this cancels out all the dicey stuff that the Mars/Saturn opposition brings us. But it won’t. That’s just not how it works. Instead there will be both bad things and good things happening at the same time. There will be people finding generosity in themselves to help their neighbors and nurture their community, and there will be earthquakes (crossing my fingers for only metaphorical ones). That’s the vibe we’re working with this next couple weeks.
This full moon is the blossoming of a seed we planted a year and a half ago. What did you wish for on the Aquarius new moon in 2024? How are you coming along in achieving that wish?
These prompts are organized, as always, by rising sign;
Aries - recently you’ve been feeling some pressure, but you might not be sure where it’s coming from. All you know is that it’s on your shoulders. Your partners are giving you more spice this month, and I hope together you harness that for both parties’ benefit. These last few weeks have probably felt a little stale or backwards-oriented in your ability to express yourself and find real pleasure. That’s on it’s way out now, and I hope as it turns around you realize how many gifts this inward-facing time has offered you. When you get to your moon ritual, thank her for the community that you are in, the friends who support your dreams, and ask her to give you even more to aspire to. You can handle that.
Taurus - I hope you feel like you’ve gotten a little bit of a break the last month or so. There are big changes to your career on the horizon, and you should get a little taste of that with this full moon (and when you do, remember to thank her). You still have things lurking in your shadows—they will soon bubble up in your public life before disappearing again. You are being asked to take more action regarding your health, and maybe do a little spirited charity work. You’re getting a clearer picture of your needs at home the last couple weeks, and after this full moon is the time to start implementing those. Thank the moon for the work you’ve been offered!
Gemini - You are just getting started. I think you feel it, yeah? Go ahead and anticipate some help in the next couple weeks, but mostly beware the tension between your romantic life and your public friend group. When someone asks you to go on a trip or invites you to a class or to their place of worship, know that this is the thing you wished for. Even if it’s just a sign letting you know it’s time to do one of those things—take the hint! You are in a brand new process of self revolution and you can use all the inspiration you can get. You have had some insights on your daily life recently that need to be put into action now. Thank the moon for her help in letting you see your own spiritual path ahead.
Cancer - What is going on in your career right now? Are you having a perception problem? Are other people interpreting you correctly? You may find that around the time of this full moon, these misperceptions spark into a bigger lesson for you. It’s possible there is something you have been hiding from yourself. It’s possible that what other people are seeing is more true than you knew—and it’s also possible that they are full of shit. It’s up to you to discern this. Ask this moon to give you support in the form of good partners, in whatever aspect of life you are needing them in right now.
Leo - You recently experienced a couple things that will set the stage for the next few years. What were you recently exposed to that made you think deeply? That made you want to explore farther into your own perspectives and those of others? Expect to find a few more sparks of this theme surrounding this coming full moon. Maybe you get the urge to start a new practice or study. Ask the moon for guidance around who is here for these changes in you, and who will help you find your way as you go through a phase of life that might feel a little foggy.
Virgo - You’ve been reflecting a lot on things you can barely see. Soon, things will turn around and you’ll have the space to start understanding the things you found in your reflections. There’s a spark getting ready to ignite that will push you to support yourself in a new way, or at least, you will have to ask your people to provide you with help. It’s hard to know what to ask for, but you know it’ll be foundational to your next phase of life. Ask this moon to give you guidance and clarity about your work and about your health. What needs to be steadfast? What needs to be changeable?
Libra - oh Libra, there’s so much going on for you right now, and unlike a lot of us, you are seeing it ALL. You’ve been turned inwards lately, reflecting on where and to whom you belong, and you’re almost ready to receive that information and act on it. Now is a great time to ask the moon to help you lean in and play with your art, with your lovers, with the young ones in your life. Expect a little more energy this coming month, and when you feel it, utilize it. You’ve recently felt the premonition of the next phase of your life in partnership, and now is a time to shape the direction of that tide.
Scorpio - try not to put your foot in your mouth at work this week. You may be feeling a bit self righteous, and that’s fair, you’re probably right, but still. Watch it. Or don’t, you do you. You’ve been reflecting about your career and your big plans and how you want other people to think of you, and I hope you can let that simmer til it’s done before you accidentally pull some skeletons out of the wrong closet. Ask this moon to help you get some staying power for a project at home.
Sagittarius - you are really hearing it from some friends this week, and maybe all of this month. Whatever they’re talking about, whatever they’re trying to get up to, let it remind you of the work you’re meant to be doing in your own realm of expression. It’s feeling foggy there right now, but it’s also feeling heavy. Pay attention to that. It gave you some hints within the last few weeks. Now is a great time to start a new ritual to support whatever this is that needs your attention—ask the moon for guidance there.
Capricorn - it’s possible that others might see you as extra fiery this next month. That’s likely to bring up some foundational issues, and I’m betting you have already seen a little bit of a preview. You’ve been wondering, lately, what exactly you are receiving from your various partnerships. As you try to stand still and really see what’s around you, try to let others show you what they’re there for instead of interpreting them. When you do your moon ritual, give her gratitude for how you are supported.
Aquarius - you’ve been in some serious reflection, and maybe even some backtracking, in your partnerships the last few weeks. Soon you will start to feel energized to take action on your perspective—I want to encourage you to use that energy to set new habits. Something sweet at work is coming, or maybe just a few particularly delightful days of being in your body. When you’re ready to do your moon ritual, give her gratitude for yourself. For your existence. Just for being here.
Pisces - I wonder how confusing it must feel right now to know the right way to support yourself. Other folks may have opinions, and in the next month they may even try to take action about this. But this your knot to untangle. The moon, if you ask her, may share some secrets with you. Learning those secrets may help you with what you’ve been pondering about regarding how to care for your body, and how to show up in service to others in ways that actually feel right to you. Try not to rush it. There’s a big lesson here and I know its foggy now but when you learn it, it will change your life for the better. Lean into some form of self-expression next week—I hope that reminds you of all your talents.
Sending you so much love. Until next time,
Alanna
