Aries Full Moon, 2025
Aries Full Moon, October 6th 2025 8:47 PM
Hi friends,
On Monday October 6th, we will have this year’s full moon in the sign of Aries.
In terms of what energies the moon will bring us, she will be leaving behind a friendly but scary, transformative energy and bringing us towards a pressing, urgent, and external, but lucky message. However, those moments will be relatively far away from the moment of the lunation. I expect that we will live in the moment of the full moon for an extended period of time. So we will need to sit with questions that the moon and sun are bringing us directly. We can find those questions by considering who rules this lunation, and that is Mars in Scorpio and Venus in Virgo.
Mars in Scorpio is strong, emotional, and willful, and in the moment of the full moon he is the one who gets to tell the moon what’s important. How do you imagine Mars—the warrior—can effectively lead the moon, a nurturer? How can our inner defenders lead our emotional selves to a place we would like to go? How are those boundary builders also nurturers themselves?
Venus in Virgo is not the most comfortable. She would prefer a space more motivated by what’s beautiful, but instead she is led by efficiency and function. And in the moment of the full moon, she is the one from whom the sun is asking for advice. So what does it mean to align our identities with the beauty of function? What would it mean to let ourselves believe that something that is working is something that is beautiful?
Incomprehensible, the first song on the new Big Thief album, brought tears to my eyes many times in the days after the Pisces lunar eclipse, and now thinking of Venus in Virgo ruling the Sun in Libra, I find myself thinking of the line,
“how could beauty that is living be anything but true?”
I don’t think I have a better description than that.
You know how sometimes in these letters I will mention “if you have a placement in these parts of your chart, this is important for you”? Well, this time it was my turn! I haven’t been writing about astrology lately because I’ve been living it instead.
At the moment of the recent lunar eclipse in Pisces, the sun was almost exactly at my rising sign (also called the ascendant), and the moon was at the place in my chart opposite to the rising, called the descendant. The ascendant and descendant are spots in our charts that are particularly sensitive, and transits to them are often felt intensely and literally. If you’ve had a reading with me, you’ll know that these represent the eastern and western horizon. (I also made you stand up and face these directions, and I’m not sorry, and I will continue doing this.)
An eclipse is a time for dramatic beginnings and endings. And I do feel I’ve begun something inside myself that needs to lead to many endings. Endings of how I define and defend my boundaries, endings of what I think I am and am not worth, endings of major chapters in my relationships to people, ideas, and beliefs. So, all in all, really light topics that I’m having a breezy time thinking about.
Did this eclipse season come for you, too? I imagine my fellow Virgo risings have had a hard time, but also Pisces risings, and to a slightly lesser degree Gemini and Sagittarius risings. If you have a Virgo or Pisces sun or moon, you likely felt it too. Tell me about it?
Because I missed three moon letters, I haven’t had the chance yet to let you know that Saturn retrograded back into Pisces for his final visit before moving on permanently into Aries. Well, sorry to be late to the update, but now you know. What this means is that there is a story in each of our lives that has been building up and playing out ever since March of 2023. This is, right now, the last chapter of that story. We have this last opportunity to end the story how we would like it to end, and that opportunity lasts until next February.
I mention this specifically because I want to offer something to you. If you’re interested, let’s sit down together and figure out what this story has been about. My idea is that our conversation can empower you to shape how the story ends. This, in my practice, is the point of astrology—to get that bird’s eye view of our lives, to understand our context so that we can make the most of where we are. Please let me know if you’re interested in this! This is a topic I want to be more active in exploring with my client work.
And, one last note on Saturn—please look in your chart for a placement on or near the 25th degree of Pisces. If you find something there, let’s talk about it. Saturn will sit still in that spot at the end of November, and I find that that can be an extremely uncomfortable transit to bear. Let’s get you prepared for that.
Here’s some prompts for you, friends. I hope they bring you somewhere nice. As always, read for your rising sign.
Aries - You’re coming into this full moon with some ideas about how to change your social world. Knowing you, these ideas are all about making things more fair, balanced, and kind—maybe a bit more structured, too. Leaving the full moon behind, you will have some opportunity presented to you at home. But in the thick of it, you’ll have an opportunity to really reflect with your partners. What do you want to give to your relationships? What do you want to keep out of these relationships?
Taurus - As this full moon approaches, I hope you get a few glimmers of understanding about how your career will continue to reshape itself. I hope that you see ways forward that seem exciting and fruitful, because when the full moon leaves us you’ll be presented with an opportunity from someone who lives close to you. Maybe you’ll get to learn something new, or develop a new ritual together. But during this full moon, I want you to focus on the ways that you are of service, and how you can make that service into an art form of it’s own.
Gemini - As you continue to find ways that your beliefs are changing, I hope this full moon approaching reminds you that you will find so much love and support for who this evolution will transform you into in the coming years. When the full moon is over, be on the lookout for a $20 on the sidewalk, or a free lunch that really is free. But during this full moon, I hope you take time to reflect on the things that you most need to express, and you find ways to do that in your social life that feels both nurturing and strong.
Cancer - This next phase of life will bring changes to you that you can’t see quite yet, but as this full moon approaches it’s possible that others will be able to see those changes for you. And when people look at you these days, they’re seeing you in the most generous light. So if they tell you there’s mustard on your shirt, they probably aren’t trying to prank you. Now is a time to receive the blessings you’ve been creating at work and in your public life. Try to spend some time nurturing and loving the nest you’ve created at home.
Leo - As this full moon approaches us, you may hear some whispers or feel some premonitions about the groundbreaking changes that await you in the next (long) chapter of your relational life. Try to take the hint, because right now there’s a lot of opportunities in your shadow work. With the full moon on us, I hope you take some time with your daily rituals, and what you want that to reflect about the beliefs you hold about life. How are you living out on a daily basis the philosophies you hold dear to your heart?
Virgo - This eclipse season is over. You made it. Try to breathe. This full moon will bring you an opportunity to reflect on what you need and what you are receiving. On her way here, the moon might bring you some insight into how the next chapter of life will play out in your body and in your career. She may push you into an opportunity to find a patron, so be on the lookout for them when they come into your life.
Libra - As the full moon approaches, listen closely to yourself. You may find that you have something that you need to express from the very deepest darkest part of you. This won’t be easy to hear and it won’t be easy to let out, but try. It’s going to be worth it. As the full moon wanes, let her push you towards an opportunity at work. While she’s here, I will ask you the same questions I asked to Aries, because you’ll have an opportunity to really reflect with your partners. What do you want to give to your relationships? What do you want to keep out of these relationships?
Scorpio - Have you been feeling spicy lately? I hope you spend this full moon finding ways to be of service, and taking care of your body and mind. I think you may get a glimpse of big changes in your nesting partnership. Ask yourself—how would you like this to be structured? What would the ideal really look like to you? Use your words. You have a lot of them this month.
Sagittarius - as the full moon approaches, she whispers to you a way to express something that will need to transform about your daily rituals with your partners. What will you create together? What social structure can you make that will bring your community closer? Because it is your community that is highlighted this month, gorgeous as it is, and it wants to see itself reflected in you. Watch for a gift arriving on the other side of this full moon.
Capricorn - Are you feeling buoyed by your relationships these days? On the other side of this full moon, look for external evidence that you are held with love and adoration. (You are.) You’ll want this, as in the approach to the full moon you’ll be glimpsing the coming transition in your own values. Something at work has your attention right now, and it’s a good time to allow your private life to help you reflect on your ambitions.
Aquarius - You’ve been learning about the meaning of scarcity. What has that given you? As the full moon approaches, she gives you a hint about some very personal, very real changes coming in your life. What do you need to express about that? Now is a great time to write a letter, and then turn your attention towards how you can be of service.
Pisces - September was rough. Try to let the moon kiss your wounds and feed your spirit. There is something in the shadow for you to understand, but there’s no rush to find full understanding. As the full moon wanes, let her push you towards your art and allow yourself to witness the gift of your own voice.
That’s all I have for you this time! I hope you are well.
Sending you my love,
Alanna
PS - are you in the Seattle area and want to celebrate the full moon together? A couple of us will be getting together at Seward park on Monday evening. Nothing too fancy or structured, just building community in the moonlight. Let me know!
