Taurus Full Moon, 2024
(Originally published on 11/14/2024)
Hi friends,
The moon is full again tonight, going exact around 1:30pm PST tomorrow, Friday 11/15.
We’ve got a lot going on right now, and a lot more coming up. I wish I hadn’t missed my last two letters to you — I’m feeling like we’re behind in the news here. But I am very happy to say, the reason I couldn’t write to you recently was that I have had a moon wish come true! This past summer I asked the Capricorn full moon for a new place to call home, and she has provided! Dylan and I just moved into a house on Beacon Hill and I’m very excited for this new chapter.
Okay. On to the astrology.
Back on October 5th, Mars entered its retrograde shadow - that means that though it currently has not begun its retrograde period (which will last from 12/6 to 2/23), it is now transiting an area that it will pass back over when it retrogrades. It will pass through this area again (a third time!) when it finally moves forward. Mars will not leave this area, which spans from 17 degrees Cancer to 6 degrees Leo, until May 3rd next year. (Check your chart to see if you have placements in this area—if there’s something there, know that that’s relevant. Reach out to me if you want to discuss!)
What this retrograde means for all of us is that everything that is happening now will be looked over again. And again. We will be retracing our steps, having second thoughts, reaching for second opinions. With this being Mars, we will probably fight the same fight a few times before this is behind us.
And the real kicker is that Mars is doing all this nonsense while in direct opposition to Pluto, so these fights we are having will be existential and transformative.
(Again. Check your charts. Please reach out to me if you have any placements in these areas. This is not an easy transit and if it’s hitting your chart personally I want to support you.)
To make things maybe a bit too on the nose, Mars entered Leo on the day of the election. I’m curious to see what we will experience on January 5th and April 19th, when Mars will again hit that location in the course of its retrograde. Looking at the chart for the US, Leo is very relevant to the beliefs and philosophy of the nation. It’s got a lot to do with the purpose and meaning that the US sees itself as having. Knowing that we will go through that same transit three times, the whole time having a staring contest with Pluto, I’m not feeling comfy cozy.
I am *extra* not feeling comfy cozy because Pluto is making his final exit from Capricorn early next week. This means that Pluto is finishing its last pass of our national “Pluto return,” which you can think of as a bit like our personal Saturn returns, but takes 249ish years and generally involves the ending of empires. So. That’s a vibe. Whatever is coming is a really, really big shift.
I don’t think “we will keep talking about the election” is a surprising prediction, and definitely not one that you need astrology for, but I am choosing to find this somehow reassuring. Maybe there is a recount in the future, and it leads to changing how we do elections. Maybe there will be some kind of fight to protect us from the worst of what the election results promise to bring us, and it leads to a changing of the constitution. I know that there are other astrologers who are sounding the alarms, but personally I don’t see the point in living out the worst case scenarios in our minds. So maybe we can all focus some moon wishes on this. Who knows what could happen. She did help me move.
Anyway. Let’s talk about something nicer.
During the full moon, Mercury in Sagittarius will oppose Jupiter in Gemini. Both of these planets struggle in these signs, but for now they are in a special pattern called mutual resonance. It’s like they traded houses and they are mutually hosting each other. My hope is that they will team up to allow us to communicate well in the midst of all this upheaval. Let’s take this as a queue to listen with the intent of understanding, and to communicate with grace and compassion.
The full moon itself will be very close to an exact conjunction with Uranus, which means it could really activate whatever it is that Uranus has been doing in our personal lives and in the world. If you have an idea of what that theme has been, watch for developments tomorrow and over the weekend. With these things happening in Taurus, it’s easy for the initial development to be missed for a little bit, and only noticed later. But it is there.
Next year will be the end of this Uranus in Taurus transit. This is our last full moon in Taurus with Uranus present. None of us reading this will see another one. It is the end of a roughly seven year era, and we are wrapping up some developments in our personal lives when it comes to this transit. I will be making my moon wish with this in mind, and these prompts focus on that as well. (But you don't have to be constrained to these!)
Remember that these prompts are organized by rising sign. Look at your chart and consider any placements you have in Taurus, as that will help you determine what has evolved for you. These are mostly prompts for moon wishes but I find myself throwing some cheeky bits of horoscope for the fixed signs in here too. Y’all deserve it.
Aries: What has been developing in terms of your personal resources? What has changed in the last seven years in terms of your own personal value—and values? What can you ask the moon for now to help you really achieve what you want in this realm of life?
Taurus: Something has changed in how you are perceived, in the way you display yourself to the world. Maybe you’ve learned or unlearned something about your own instincts. What can you ask the moon for now to make this change into exactly the kind of change you want? Do you need to ask for some extra patience at home?
Gemini: What is your relationship with your shadow? How has it appeared to you in this last seven years? What can you ask for now that will help you feel settled and complete when this transit has ended?
Cancer: Have you changed the way you approach your responsibilities to other people? Has your loyalty shifted or been tested? Have you found yourself out in the world with a new reputation in the last seven years? What can you ask the moon for now that will help you navigate these changes as they solidify into your life?
Leo: Over the last seven years, your career has seen a massive shift. Even if you stayed in the same position, you are playing a different role with the people around you. Right now, you might be dealing with an injury or frustration of some kind. Ask the moon for what you need at work, in your public life, in dealing with your parents. Buy some aloe vera. Maybe a whole first aid kit.
Virgo: Your beliefs have been rocked in the last seven years. Things have changed for you, and not just life, but your perspective on it. Are you inspired to take the next step? Ask the moon for help with it. You know exactly what I’m referring to.
Libra: When I say “transformative relationship”, I mean, a relationship that changes who you are. A friendship that changes your life path. A partner who turns you into a spouse. A drug that changes the way the world feels. Libra, what do you get from those relationships? How has that changed for you? What do you need to make that change feel right? Ask for it.
Scorpio: In the last seven years, the way you do relationships has fundamentally changed. What have you learned? What do you want to take with you into your next chapter of life? You’ve also currently got a big frustration or disappointment at work or with your parents that will be haunting you for a while. I don’t have advice there but I do wish you well.
Sagittarius: It’s likely that you have changed your relationship with your body in the last seven years. Maybe you are doing a different kind of work or you are in a different routine. Is this a change you wanted? What can you ask the moon for now that you would want to bring into the next chapter?
Capricorn: What is art? What is romance? What does it mean to play a game? What have you learned about that in the last seven years? Did you have fun? Ask the moon for more.
Aquarius: Home, and family, has looked different in the last seven years. You are probably currently frustrated or nursing sore feelings with a loved one. What can you ask the moon for that will make your home more comfortable? What do you need to feel nurtured? Ask for that.
Pisces: You’ve learned something about your routines. You have changed your relationship with your siblings, neighbors, and metamours. What do you need to make these changes feel good to you? Ask for that.
That’s all I’ve got for you this time!
Sending you love.
